How to Ride in the Street: TODAY

There is still time to join our How to Ride in the Street class. It is a 4-part class, starting this afternoon. We’ll talk strategy and practice skills, in a kind and encouraging group! Read more and sign up, here.

IMPORTANT Public Meeting: MONDAY

The bike lanes on Riverside Drive seemed inevitable. But then the naysayers were the ones who showed up at the public meeting. And the bike lane project was scrapped. Tomorrow’s public meeting is one of those where projects could get the green light, or get thrown out. So, PLEASE show up and share your thoughts.

17159254_1139610979497914_5422838579692328516_oIt is an Open House format, so don’t worry if you can’t arrive by 5:30. Attendees will be able to come and go during the two-hour window. Revolutions feels this meeting is so important that we will be CLOSING THE SHOP, in order to attend.

If you want to ride over with us, we’re meeting at the Overton Park Bike Arch, at 5:30. Or just show up at Benjamin Hooks library!

Comment cards will be provided to share your position on a project. And we URGE you to use these cards. The comments collected through the cards will be recorded, tallied, and reviewed to determine the general sentiment from attendees toward the projects. Due to the open house format, voicing your opinion is good, but submitting it in writing is better. Because of the meeting format, it’s critical that attendees use the comment cards. Even if a comment is as simple as “More bike lanes” or “No bike lanes,” it will be recorded and considered for next steps.

The proposed projects are:

STP Group 5

1) N. Highland St. – Summer Ave. to Walnut Grove Rd. 2) Riverside Dr. – Jefferson Ave. to Beale St.     3) N. Perkins St. – Summer Ave. to Walnut Grove Rd. 4) Hickory Hill Rd. – Mt. Moriah Rd. to    Winchester Rd.. 5) Knight Arnold Rd. – Hickory Hill Rd. to Ridgeway Rd. 6) Riverdale Rd. – Winchester Rd. to Shelby Dr.

STP Group 6

1) Cooper St. – Washington Ave. to Central Ave. 2) Getwell Rd. – Park Ave. to I-240.    3) Airways Blvd. – Shelby Dr. to TN/MS State Line  4) Mendenhall Rd. – Knight Arnold Rd. to Mt. Moriah Rd.

PLEASE plan to attend this meeting! Even if you can only stop in for a few minutes, we want you share your voice. Revolutions will lead a ride to this meeting. We’ll meet at the Overton Park Bike Gate at 5:30, for those who want to ride over, together.

We’re riding to four breweries! We’ll be joined by Memphis Made co-owner Andy Ashby who says, “Working at Memphis Made as much as I do, I don’t get to ride my bike or visit other local breweries as much as I’d like. This is a great chance to do both.” Meet us on April 8, at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Revolutions entrance. We’ll ride to Ghostriver, High Cotton, Wiseacre and Memphis Made!Memphis Made Spring Break Ride.jpg
