Women’s Bike Chat: Dessert Ride TODAY

The weather turned gorgeous, again. So, for today’s Women’s Bike Chat let’s ride to dessert. I’m thinking somewhere in Overton Square? And I’m totally open to suggestions. Need a bike? Rent one from us for $5, plus tax.

Helmets required, ride at your own risk, etc. You know the deal. We hope you’ll join us, at Revolutions, 2:00 p.m.!

Fix a Flat: TOMORROW

This class covers everything you need to know about tires and tubes. Learn why you get flats and the best ways to prevent them, in the future. Never get stranded again!

We’ll show you how to fix a flat. And then you’ll have time to practice. Bring your own bike, if you want to. Or use one of ours. This class is free for Revolutions members. Not a member of Revolutions, yet? You can join when you sign up! Or, you can pay for a single class, without membership, for just $10. Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Bike to Dinner: THURSDAY

We’re headed to India Palace, so you should be about to ride for about 40 minutes, each way. We have bikes to rent, if you need one: City Bikes, Family Cargo Bikes and trail-a-bikes that we can help you attach to your bicycle, so a kid can help you pedal.

Rides meet at Revolutions, on the Cooper-side of First Congo, in front of our gate with bike art above it. We’ll meet at 6:30 and roll out by 6:45, at the latest. If you are renting bicycles, please come at 6:15. Weather updates, and more info, here.

How to Ride in the Street: Starts NEXT SUNDAY

Do you want to ride in the street, but feel nervous? Check out our 4-part class, starting next Sunday. We’ll talk strategy and practice skills, in a kind and encouraging group! Read more and sign up, here.

IMPORTANT Public Meeting on 10 Road Projects

17159254_1139610979497914_5422838579692328516_o

The following re-surfacing projects will be presented (most of which include bike facilities) in an Open house format, on Monday, March 27. Revolutions feels this meeting is so important that we will be CLOSING THE SHOP, in order to attend. The plans for the various re-surfacing projects will be displayed at tables around the room, and a City staff member or consultant will be positioned at each table to answer questions. Attendees will be able to come and go during the two-hour window.

Comment cards will be provided to share your position on a project. And we URGE you to use these cards. The comments collected through the cards will be recorded, tallied, and reviewed to determine the general sentiment from attendees toward the projects. Due to the open house format, voicing your opinion is good, but submitting it in writing is better. Because of the meeting format, it’s critical that attendees use the comment cards. Even if a comment is as simple as “More bike lanes” or “No bike lanes,” it will be recorded and considered for next steps.

We have been informed that these designs are truly proposals. The projects will move forward or be altered/stopped depending on the feedback.

The proposed projects are:

STP Group 5

1) N. Highland St. – Summer Ave. to Walnut Grove Rd. 2) Riverside Dr. – Jefferson Ave. to Beale St.     3) N. Perkins St. – Summer Ave. to Walnut Grove Rd. 4) Hickory Hill Rd. – Mt. Moriah Rd. to    Winchester Rd.. 5) Knight Arnold Rd. – Hickory Hill Rd. to Ridgeway Rd. 6) Riverdale Rd. – Winchester Rd. to Shelby Dr.

STP Group 6

1) Cooper St. – Washington Ave. to Central Ave. 2) Getwell Rd. – Park Ave. to I-240.    3) Airways Blvd. – Shelby Dr. to TN/MS State Line  4) Mendenhall Rd. – Knight Arnold Rd. to Mt. Moriah Rd.

PLEASE plan to attend this meeting! Even if you can only stop in for a few minutes, we want you share your voice. Revolutions will lead a ride to this meeting. We’ll meet at the Overton Park Bike Gate at 5:30, for those who want to ride over, together.

Save the Date: Tour De Brewer I — April 8

What if you could ride to four local breweries in one fun afternoon? For some, this might be just the thing on the second Saturday in April! We had a practice run, on Friday, March 10. This crew made it to the Golf Clubhouse, plus Wiseacre and Memphis Made.
