Dec 18: Hot Chocolate?

Have You Heard About Our Overhaul Class?

This is our premier seven-week course that gives students the skills necessary to work on all the basic systems of the bicycle. Classes run 3 hours long. Registration is required and class size is limited to ten students.

Because students are encouraged to practice their newly learned skills in the shop by working on their own bike during Open Shop hours, we require membership for this class. But you can join Revolutions, when you sign up for class! Read more and sign up, here.

Basic Bike Assessment: Tomorrow!

Our Basic Bike Assessment class is coming up, tomorrow, Monday, Dec 19 at 6:30. This is a great class for new members. You will have the chance to look over your whole bike and make a list of what you could work on, during our Open Shop hours. Join us for an orientation to the workshop and a chance to check out your bicycle. Read more and sign up here.

Women’s Bike Chat 3rd Annual Hot Chocolate Ride

If it’s not raining, let’s chat on the road! The chilly weather makes a perfect time to ride to someplace warm and enjoy a hot chocolate, or other tasty beverage.

This ride is women-only. Guys, we’ll catch you on the next one.

The weather forecast does not look great. So, watch here for updates. If it’s just cold, we’ll bundle up and ride. If it’s rainy and nasty, though, we will cancel.

We require helmets on all Revolutions sponsored rides. We take a pretty easy pace. Please remember that you ride at your own risk.

Don’t let not having a bike keep you from riding with us. We have bikes for sale, in our Shop. And we also rent adult bikes $5 plus tax, on the day of a group ride.

Bike Walk Memphis Gathering: Loflin Yard

Join Bike Walk Memphis on Monday to learn about statewide plans for the Tennessee legislative session. Gather with others from the Memphis region to learn how to join the statewide movement for better bicycling and walking in Tennessee!

The upcoming Tennessee legislative session begins January 10, 2017. But bills are being filed and drafted, now. Your voice can have an impact on this process, and our voices will be loudest together. Learn more on Monday, Dec 19, 5:30 to 7:00 at Loflin Yard. More details here.

Shop Closures for the Holidays

The Volunteers and Staff of Revolutions want to send out a big thank you for another great year. We tried out new classes and new ride destinations, and we made lots of new friends who like bicycles, too!

Revolutions will take a break for the Christmas/New Year’s week. We’ll be closed from Sunday, December 25th through Tuesday, January 3rd.  We look forward to seeing you in 2017!

Have you Thanked the City?

The team at Innovate Memphis, and specifically its Commute Options program, shared a thankful message for bike lanes in Memphis from local residents. Check out the video to see and hear Memphians giving thanks for improved bicycling conditions.

Why not take a moment, yourself, to thank Mayor Strickland?

College Students: Internship Opportunity!

The National Association of Railroad Passengers is launching year two of their Summer by Rail program. They are looking for a smart, dedicated young person to spend a month riding, biking, and hiking across a connected America!

During their first Summer by Rail, they sent Elena, a George Washington University student, on a month-long train trip across 15 states and 20 cities. She explored the connections between rail and bikes, ferries, and transit along the way. On her journey across America’s transportation network, she met with mayors and transportation officials, reporters, local cyclists and advocacy groups, and hundreds of fellow travelers.

NARP will be relaunching the Summer by Rail program for Summer 2017—and they want smart, dedicated college students to apply for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
