It’s Riding Time

Last week, our How to Ride in the Street class gathered five students who want to feel IMG_3922more confident riding. They were exactly who I was hoping would join this class. All of them said they feel nervous or afraid to ride in the streets of Memphis. The class talked a lot about where to position themselves in a lane and how to signal to drivers when they want to change lanes or turn. And then, they got out on the street to practice!

We hope you’ll take advantage of some of the upcoming group rides. Tomorrow night is Livable Memphis’ Pizza with Planners. We are meeting at Revolutions at 6:00 to ride down to the Hampline and then talk about what’s happening in the world of Memphis bicycles. You need to register here, so we’ll have enough pizza for everybody!

Looking for Volunteers: Sunday and Monday!

The Neighborhoods USA conference is in Memphis this week. And they want to rent some bicycles. Forty-four bicycles, to be exact. We have enough to help them out, if we use all of our Rental Fleet, Training Fleet and Retail Bicycles! Our Training Fleet now has 30 bikes completed and safety checked. But they really need a longer test ride, before we send them down the Greenline. Are you available Sunday afternoon at 3:30 to come ride them with us? Meet us in the Shop, at 3:30 p.m., today. And, if they need a few extra tweaks, we will work on them Monday evening, from 6:30 to 9:00, and we would love help with that, too!

Please note that anyone can ride with us, though you must wear a helmet (you can borrow one from us!). You must be a member if you want to work on the bikes (but you can join when you arrive, Monday night!)
