Wanted: A Neighborhood Map for Bicycle Ambassadors

Gilmore Apartments’ map of Midtown

When I first moved to Memphis, the Gilmore Apartments gave me this awesome map of Midtown. Some of the businesses no longer existed. But I loved how it smooshed so much of Midtown onto one cute page.

For Bicycle Ambassadors, we will plan the best route from home to school, for each Ambassador. We could use this Peabody School Boundary Map:

But I’d love to have something more fun. I’m not suggesting that every house and business be drawn in. But something more colorful and creative than the very plain boundary map would be a great way to encourage the kids to try riding to other places in the neighborhood.

So, are you creative? Would you be interested in drawing us a map to use with the Bicycle Ambassadors? Email me, please, to chat more! info@revolutionsmemphis.com

Demolition Night is Back!

Join us this Monday night to help us work through our donated bikes. We will find parts worth saving, and pull out scrap headed for the scrap heap. Work on this night will also help us keep our stock of used parts sorted and available.
This is a great night for new members to participate in because we’re just breaking down bikes, so you don’t have to worry about breaking something!

And, there is an extra incentive to work on Demolition Night:

  • Demolition Night volunteers are rewarded with one “Revolutions Bucks” coin. These coins, worth 10 Revolutions Bucks, can be used to purchase one of our bikes in need of overhaul.
  • You must be a current Revolutions Member ($30) to work on the Training Fleet.

Upcoming Rides

The weather was gorgeous, yesterday. It would have been a great day for a group ride. The trouble is, I don’t think it is predictable enough, yet, to post upcoming rides in the Sunday newsletter. So, to that end, start watching our Facebook page for ride notices and events. I’m anxious for us to get riding, again. So, if the weather looks like it’s going to be nice, I think we should have some short notice rides. Like maybe a Sylvia’s birthday ride, with cake, down to the River, on Saturday. Stay tuned…
