Bikes on Broad: Kids Riding Bikes

Revolutions took a group of 30 out for last week’s Bikes on Broad ride. They said the theme was “kids riding bikes” so we brought a ton of kids. These families were kind enough to try out and show off our brand new fleet of Family Cargo Bikes! There will be more info, soon, on our Spinlister page, if you want to rent them.

Here are some pictures of the fun!

A tour of Orange MoundIMG_1562

It’s time for another tour with our friends from Orange Mound. Join us, on Thursday at 6:00 p.m., in front of the Revolutions Bike Gate. We will make the very short ride over to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, to meet up with our friends. And then all together we will ride through Orange Mound. Bring lights, because we’ll ride back at dark. And bring bike bells, because last time we all enjoyed ringing and greeting all the folks we passed along the way. You can read more info here.

Don’t let your friend give the excuse that they don’t have a bike keep them from riding with us. Our bikes are $5, plus tax, for this group ride! We hope to see you on Thursday.

Netherlands Exploration of Bicycling!

I was invited to join a group of ten from Memphis, to head to the Netherlands. I depart Saturday for a week of riding and talking about riding. This trip serves as a follow-up trip from the City of Memphis’ participation in the Green Lanes project. Kyle Wagenshutz, Memphis’ Bike/Ped Coordinator, organized a group of grassroots leaders and I am honored to be among them. I look forward to exploring how the Dutch use their bicycles and bike lanes. And I know I will be bursting with ideas about what more we can do in Memphis, when I return.

In preparation for my trip, I’ve been watching some videos. Here are three of my favorites:
