This is just a notice that Revolutions will be closed on Thursday, March 28 through Sunday, March 31 for the Easter weekend. Because of the closure, there will be no Orientation Class on March 31.

Normal shop hours will resume on Monday, April 1 for volunteer night

Bike Walk TN is proud to announce that the 2013 TN Bike Summit will be held in Memphis, TN from May 22-24, 2013. The Summit will be held on the campus of Rhodes College in the heart of Midtown Memphis.

Since 2010, Memphis added more than 50 miles of new bicycle lanes, received an Honorable Mention as Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists, and was named “Most Improved City for Cycling” by Bicycling magazine in 2012. You can learn more about the great changes for biking in Memphis by checking out the Bike/Ped Memphis website.

Please mark May 22-24 in your calendar’s and share the “Save the Date” information with any of your colleagues, local cycling aficionados, or friends that might be interested in attending.

Registration will open in early March 2013 accompanied with a list of confirmed speakers and topics of discussion.

Any prospective member or curious community member interested in learning more about what Revolutions does, how the membership program works, how to get a bike, or some basic bike safety skills should sign up for an orientation class today.

Attendance of the orientation class is now a requirement in order to obtain a membership.

Last Sunday we began making final preparations for this year’s Holiday Bike Recycle program in cooperation with Shelby Farms Park Conservancy and YMCA of Memphis. We’ve got 30 young boys and girls that will be receving bikes from Revolutions later this month after going through a two-day bike safety course.

If you are interested in helping work on the bikes or helping up administer the bike safety course, dates and times are below. No appointment is necessary to shop up and help work on the bikes. Jimmy Ogle Memphis & Arkansas Bridge Walks & Talks
2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12

  The Memphis & Arkansas Bridge (southernmost, I-55) is the only one of the four bridges in Memphis that a person can “legally” walk over, as it has sidewalks that were built into its features in 1951. Most people do not know, and the few that do know it are scared to go down there, or park there car in an unsecured public park gravel lot, or just do not know how to get there – or are just lazy! [Exit 12C from westbound I-55] Also, there is a day coming that the Harahan Greenline will be a reality, so we need to start acclimating folks to the south bluffs area of the riverfront, which is by far the most dramatic and scenic portion of all of the 250+ acres between the wolf River and the lower bridges.

This is a definite “bring your camera” tour!

• The Resources page contains links to a whole host of groups working to make bicycling and walking more convenient for Memphians.
• The Contact Us page contains information on how best to reach Kyle with your comments, suggestions, concerns, and complaints.

Registration is free and begins at 9:30am and the ride begins at 10 am. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes and dress in a theme appropriate
